A Preserved Ecosystem
Located just a few kilometers from Saint-Émilion, northeast of Bordeaux, Château Paquillon is fully committed to an ambitious environmental approach, combining respect for nature with viticultural excellence.
On the prestigious lands of Montagne Saint-Émilion, our estate dedicates itself every day to implementing sustainable practices that ensure biodiversity and the quality of our wines.
Preserving our local ecosystem is at the heart of our mission. Around our plots, we have planted ecological hedges composed of local species. These hedges play an essential role: they shelter a diverse fauna, naturally regulate insect populations, and promote a healthy and balanced ecosystem, essential to the vitality of our vines.
The Key Role of Bees and Melliferous Plants
To strengthen this natural balance, we have installed several beehives on the estate. Bees are precious allies for the vineyard: they pollinate surrounding plants, help maintain local flora, and provide us with a sensitive indicator of the overall health of our environment. To support their activity, we have also planted melliferous paulownias. These grafted, non-invasive trees capture twice as much CO₂ as local species and provide pollen and nectar to the foraging bees.

A Recognized Environmental Certification: HVE
Committed for the long term, we are proud that Château Paquillon is certified HVE (High Environmental Value). This official French certification rewards vineyards that meet strict criteria in terms of biodiversity, water management, phytosanitary strategy, and fertilization. We aim for the HVE level 4, the most demanding to date, demonstrating our commitment to making Montagne Saint-Émilion a model of sustainable, modern, and responsible viticulture.
